Marc is an excellent creative story writer. His Ladybug stories, based on Nathaniel's drawings, impress Marinette (the real Ladybug) so much that she pushes him to work with Nathaniel to make the Ladybug/Mighty Illustrator comic. Since the two of them complete the comic, it is implied that Marc's writing skills are strong enough for him to write well in script style as well as in short story style. Unlike the miraculous holders and friends of Marinette, he is from another class (Miss Mendeleiev instead of Miss Bustier).
Appearance[]
Marc is a slender teenage boy with a somewhat feminine appearance, with messy Rock style black hair with blues reflects, vivid pistachio colored eyes with visible lashes, thick eyebrows, pink lips, and a slender face with a pointed chin.
He wears a loud V-neck rainbow tie-dye shirt which displays the colors in a ripple pattern originating from the center. Over his shirt, he wears a bright red jacket with hood and white drawstrings, and pink lining on the inside. He wears moderate azure jeans with the bottoms rolled up and a number of horizontal rips around his knees. He wears a pair of black boots with faint "Oil Slick" rainbow blotches.
He also wears a pair of black leather fingerless gloves, a black leather collar around his neck, and a square-nails belt with a square silver buckle. Hanging from his belt are a pair of square-nails chains that hang around his thighs. His nails are painted black. In the sixth season, he wears makeup and has earrings.
As Reverser he wears a checkerboard patterned suit with a hood that is attached to it. The left side of his suit has solid black markings, like on his hood, hair, eyebrow, iris of the eye, pupil, lips, chest, arm, waist, fingers, and pant leg. On the right side, his inner hood, face, sclerae, teeth, palm, feet, half of a circle on the chest, are black. Reverser's weapons are small black and white paper airplanes that can reverse the abilities or the personality of the person who is hit. He rides on a large paper hoverboard.
Personality[]
Marc's a very shy and nervous person around any type of people. For example, when Marinette Dupain-Cheng pulls Marc into the art room and and is introduced to the other students in the classroom. Like Marinette, he is shown to be quite clumsy and shy, especially when he's around someone he has feelings for like Nathaniel Kurtzberg. His character is mainly interested in story writing, but he is also shown to like soccer (football) and is a good player at said sport.
Sexuality[]
Marc's sexuality is not explicitly stated in the show. We can see that Marc is very interested in Nathaniel because the first episode where he makes his appearance, we see that Marc is embarrassed and blushing when he is in front of Nathaniel.
Marc Anciel was confirmed to be a member of the LGBT+ community on Twitter[1][2][3][4]. He was also based on Thomas Astruc's friend who is genderfluid and bisexual[5]. Ferisae, one of the show workers, answered about his label on twitter, saying that it is only know that he is LGBT and has a "crush" on Nathaniel, but he could be anything.
Thomas Astruc stated that Marc and Nathaniel are not an officially in a relationship, saying "We're just trying to see what seems natural for the characters to do or not." and "when we have characters who get together and others who don´t get together, it's not done by chance, it's just logical"[6].

- After "Reverser" premiered Morphin revealed that the character Astruc was referring to was Marc, and also that he is androgynous, and claimed jockingly that Nathaniel was 'his [Marc's] "crush" that rejected him [in said episode's climax]'[7][8].
- Farisae confirmed on now deleted tweets that Marc identifies as part of the LGBTQ+ community and has a "fondness" Nathaniel[9][10][11].
- Later, Astruc allegedlly mentioned that Marc and Nathaniel were an official couple[12][13]. Nevertheless, it can't be verified due to the tweets and account being deleted, but still on the trivia page for Marc Anciel's wiki.

Nathaniel Kurtzberg[]
Marc often looks at Nathaniel's drawings online and uses them as inspiration for the stories he writes. Marinette tried to help the two by arranging a meeting for them at a fountain in the park so they could combine their stories and artwork together. However, Nathaniel mistakenly believes that Marinette is taking him to see Ladybug herself for help with his artwork, and when he sees Marc instead he believes that he and Marinette were working together to prank him, which causes Marc to be akumatized. However, after he came back to normal, the two fix the misunderstanding and start creating a comic book together.
After many episodes it's unkown if they are officially a couple since they seem to be close and physically affectionate.
They are seen multiple times in the background of various episodes together.
In the episode "Hack-San" (S4E16), when commanded by Robostus to hand over his most precious possession with mind control, he offers Nathaniel and ends up in a digital prison. In the English subbed version, Marc claims that the manga he was working on with Nathaniel was actually his most precious item. In both versions, Nathaniel along the manga he was holding end up in the digital prison.
In the episode "Representation" (S5E24), they are discovered talking in a intimate manner and holding hands when Marinette accidentally runs into them while she was crying and heading to a secluded area away from their other friends at the Eiffel Tower party.
