Luke Patterson is a pansexual character Julie and the Phantoms.

Biography

Luke was 17 years old in 1995 when he died. His parents are Emily and Mitch Patterson. He is an only child.

His parents bought him a guitar which ignited his love and passion for music.

Sometime before 1995, Luke formed a band with his friends Alex, Reggie, and Bobby called Sunset Curve. He was their lead singer, lead guitarist and the main songwriter.

Luke's parents disapproved of his dream to be in a rock band. This caused a rift between him and his parents resulting in Luke running away from home.

On the night of July 22, 1995, Sunset Curve was due to play at The Orpheum, a gig that kickstarted many bands' careers. According to Luke, "We're playing the Orpheum. I can't even count how many bands have played here and then ended up being huge." After soundcheck, Luke, Reggie, and Alex went to get street dogs for dinner, which ended up giving them food poisoning and killing them mere hours before their performance.

After Luke, Reggie, and Alex died, they were trapped for an hour in a "black room," until Julie played their CD, which released them back into the world in 2020. Unbeknownst to them, it had been 25 years since they had died.

Appearance

Luke has wavy brown hair. Many of his shirts have the sleeves cut off. He wears black jeans with a wallet chain and a necklace with a large rock on the end of a long, thin chain.

Personality

Luke has a very upbeat and fast-paced personality. He is easy-going about everything except his music— often emphasizing the importance of it to his friends in conversation. Those close to him know that Luke genuinely believes his music can connect him to people on another, deeper level, and the importance of music to him is its ability to connect him with others.

On equal level to his music are his friends. He is close with Reggie and Alex and thinks of them as family—this is later applied to Julie as well. It's notable that the people he is closest to are those he connects to through their shared music.

Sexuality

Luke was shown to be pansexual in his various attarctions towards Willie, Alex, Julie, Nick and Reggie. In a livestream with Charlie Gillespie, Madison Reyes, and Owen Patrick Joyner, it was revealed that Luke and Alex had dated in the 90s. This theory is yet to be confirmed in the show, thought it may imply that Luke is likely either bisexual or pansexual.

Relationships

Alex Mercer

It is revealed by Owen (Alex) and Charlie (Luke) that they use to date back in the 90s, but broke up from unknown reasons. However, they still remain best friends and bandmates and has not talk about their past relationship ever since.

Julie Molina

When they first met, Julie and Luke quickly became friends and bonded over their shared love of music despite their inability to touch. Their relationship becomes very flirtatious, with Luke often glancing at Julie's lips and staring at her with an awed expression. As of season one, they have yet to speak openly about their relationship, aside from Luke describing it as "an interesting little relationship." However, they have both found many nonverbal ways to tell each other how they feel (such as charged mic shares, trying to hold hands, standing too close in a doorway, and holding each other's faces when they can finally touch) and their feelings are not a secret from each other.

Reggie, Alex, and Flynn have all made comment about their intense chemistry both on-stage and off-stage.
