Hartley was the son of a wealthy family, but was kicked out when he came out. He worked for S.T.A.R. Labs until he discovered a problem with the particle accelerator. When "Harrison Wells" discovered that he knew, he fired him.
After the particle accelerator exploded, Hartley's hearing was effected and he had to start wearing a specific hearing aid to stop him from hearing constant noise.
Appearance[]
Hartley has blonde-ish brown hair, leopard like print glasses, and blue eyes.
He is usually wearing a black shirt with a black hood. He wears dark blue jeans and knee high black laced boots.

Sexuality[]
Hartley was confirmed as gay, when Caitlin told Barry that the reason he doesn't work for his parents, is because they kicked him out for coming out. Old family means old values. He makes a few comments on being scooped up by a guy wrapped in leather.
