Eliot grew up in a homophobic household in rural Indiana. His childhood was made up of a series of torments. He accidently killed his bully at age 14 by manifesting his magic for the first time.
When he got accepted into Brakebills, he was assigned a Physical Kid. The Magicians begins at the start of his second year.
Appearance[]
Throughout the series, his hair grew from a short tufft to longer curls. Eliot is the tallest among the main cast. He enjoys to wear extravagant Fillorian garments and sleek earthen vests. Throughout season 2 and a few episodes into season 3, Eliot wears the crown of the High King of Fillory.
Personality[]
Eliot fits the basis of a camp gay character well: he's dramatic, charming, and highly hedonistic. He subverts the trope in many ways, though. Eliot finds it hard to connect with others; he says there's a "very limited" number of people worth caring for. This leads to him being afraid of commitment and love. He struggles with substance abuse, to the point of self-destruction at times. Eliot can be mean-spirited but also very kind and sympathetic.

Eliot was known to be attracted to men from the beginning of the show due to his suggestive comments about other men. His interest in men was confirmed when Eliot started dating Mike. He once described sex with women as "you know, interesting in a sometimes-you-like-Thai-food kind of way" showing some fluidity in his sexuality despite being predominantly interested in men. He also had a threesome with Quentin and Margo.

Mike McCormick[]
Eliot met Mike when he and Margo were trying to find a way to summon jin, but they had trouble translating the Arabic. Mike was working in the library when he saw them. He offered them help, and flirted with Eliot the whole time. The two then hook up and officially start dating. Mike later turned out to be controlled by The Beast, who got captured briefly after trying to kill Quentin with the Virgo blade. After The Beast brakes free, killing Jane Chatwin. He then tries to kill Henry, standing in his way to escape. Eliot kills him to protect Henry.

In exchange for a dagger that can kill The Beast, the future king was required to marry the daughter of the knife maker. They figure out that it's Eliot, and he's forced to marry her. He ends up liking her enough but isn't all that much into having sex with her, despite her enjoying it.
Eventually, Fen becomes pregnant, but the child is taken by the Fairies after a deal made my Margo on her behalf.
Javier[]
Eliot hooks up with Javier after he gets back from Fillory briefly.
Idri[]

When Margo declares war on Loria, one of the ways to get out of it is a trial by combat between kings. Eliot goes to the battlefield where he has to fight King Idri. They end up in the woods, and Eliot ends up a tree. The two starts to flirt, and in the process Eliot learns that he is allowed to have a husband along with a wife. They cut a deal to end the war and instead decide to get married.
After the disappearance of Magic, and the dethroning of Eliot and Margo, Loria decides to go to war with Fillory. Margo and Idri get in contact with him, and, since Eliot is no longer king, Idri breaks off their engagement. Eliot is able to seduce him and convince him to not attack Fillory.
Quentin Coldwater[]

Eliot met Quentin on Quentin's first day at Brakebills. He took an instant liking towards Quentin and gave him the tour. The two get closer as the year goes on and Quentin includes him in his quest of taking down the Beast.
Eventually, the two grow closer, and have a threesome that includes Margo. Later, when they are caught in the past, trying to solve a puzzle, they kiss, and Quentin's child, Ted, is given both his and Eliot's last name.
