Caitlyn Kiramman is a lesbian character from Arcane: League of Legends.

Biography[]

Caitlyn was born into the Kiramman Clan, one of the wealthiest noble families in the city of Piltover. For most of her childhood she was sheltered by her mother, and was best friends with Jayce Talis. She grew to become an expert markswoman with a rifle. As an adult, Caitlyn joined the Enforcers and started to investigating the problems coming from the undercity. When she entered Stillwater prison, she meets a prisoner named Vi, who she breaks out in order to help her with her investigation.

Appearance[]

Caitlyn is tall young woman with a mixed Piltoven and Ionian ancestry in her early twenties. She has pale skin, sapphire blue eyes, shoulder length natural dark blue hair, and a slender build. She wears a female Enforcer uniform that is mostly blue, with white stripe in the middle, and sometimes wears a hat go along with it. While in Zaun, she wears a purple outfit, and her hair is tied up in a ponytail. After losing her left eye, she wears an eye patch over it.

Sexuality[]

Caitlyn is shown to be attracted to women in the show through her interactions with Vi as she seemed flustered around her, touching her face, holding her hand, and seemingly heartbroken when Vi leaves her behind, etc. She was also shown to choose to flirt with a woman after Vi had asked her "man or woman?" when they were searching for information at a brothel, having been very uncomfortable when she was left with a man there initially.

Caitlyn and Vi have been confirmed as queer multiple times by Amanda Overton, a writer on the series. One person who worked on the show described it as "the league of lesbians show". Amanda Overton confirmed that in Piltover, where Caitlyn lives, they don't have labels like 'gay' and 'lesbian', also stating that the individual identities of the characters might be explored more later in the show.

Outside of the universe, official art from Pride month 2023 confirmed League Caitlyn as a lesbian, with a lesbian flag appearing on her hat. The official League of Legends Instagram also reposted two people cosplaying as Caitlyn and Vi with lesbian flags wrapped around them, and League even added an extra lesbian flag to tbe background of the image, further confirming their sexualities.

Although Arcane differs in many respects from League of Legends, major canon facts are generally seen to be the same in both the show and the game, so this confirmation almost certainly applies to the Arcane version of Caitlyn too.

Relationships[]

Unnamed woman[]

When Caitlyn and Vi visit a brothel looking for information, Caitlyn is shown to choose a woman to flirt with. Although it's likely she's doing this, at least in part, for the investigation, the woman she flirts with isn't the person she initially talks to in the brothel, suggesting that she may have sought out a woman specifically, and she seems very comfortable with flirting with a woman. Vi takes this as a sign of her interest in women.

Vi[]

Vi is Caitlyn's only real romantic interest in the show. Although they initially didn't get along, due to coming from totally different backgrounds, but they quickly show interest in each other, with Vi describing Caitlyn as "hot" and calling her "cupcake".

Their relationship continues to develop over the days they spend together, showing that they really care about each other and are attracted to each other.

Vi's sister, Jinx, describes Caitlyn as Vi's girlfriend, which Vi doesn't deny. Amanda Overton has also implied that their relationship may have progressed during the hours in which they were alone in Caitlyn's room in the show's eighth episode.
